Postponed: My Fair Lady

7 Dates Through Apr 04, 2020

ABOUT ABOUT

Hi Franklin Theatre fans and families,

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that our performances of My Fair Lady are postponed due to Sacramento County school closures extending from now through the end of spring break as part of our district's continuing efforts to protect students, staff and community members and to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. As of this writing, the expected end date of the closure is April 11, 2020. We do not have any news about rescheduling at this time, but every effort will be made if it is considered safe and appropriate to do so. For many arts programs such as ours, being unable to perform or to face postponment after such a large investment of time, talent, and money is truly heartbreaking to our students and theatre staff. We have nothing but love and hugs to our cast members and their families during this difficult and disappointing time. We live by the mantra that "the show must go on" but also care deeply for the health and wellbeing of our community. We will continue to update you about any news regarding possible rescheduling and future events on our instagram account @franklintheatreco and our website: http://franklintheatrecompany.weebly.com.

Patrons who have already purchased tickets: we wanted to present you with a few options...

1. Email Caitlin Knapp at [email protected] to request a full refund by March 25th and we will happily refund any and all ticket purchases.

2. Exchange your online ticket for a ticket to a performance if we are able to reschedule later this school year (if we aren't able to reschedule we can issue a refund if requested at a later date). No need to contact us, just keep your email confirmation on hand for later. We will follow up with dates and details to the email you used to purchase your tickets and will post information on our instagram and website.

3. Consider your ticket a donation that will help us recover financially if we face cancellation.

Any option is at your discretion and we are happy to accommodate you no matter your choice. Again, thank you for your support of our program and we wish you and yours health and happiness.

Best,

Franklin Theatre Company

When Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady opened on Broadway, it collected six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, while the film version took home eight Oscars, including Best Picture. Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is that rare musical by which all others are measured. The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features one of musical theatre’s greatest scores, including: “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “With a Little Bit of Luck,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.”

Eliza Doolittle is a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When Professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like a proper lady, an unlikely friendship begins to flourish.
