Franklin Theatre Company is proud to present Shakespeare’s As You Like It this fall. In this popular comedy, two worlds collide in a whirlwind romp through the court and the country as usurped thrones, love triangles, and disguises place families at odds. At court, the pompous and corrupt Duchess Frederick has usurped her sister, the Duchess Senior, sending her into exile. In the same kingdom, Oliver denies his brother Orlando his right to the family wealth and title and plots to have him killed. Stuck in the middle are two friends: Rosalind, Duchess Senior’s daughter, and Celia, Duchess Frederick’s daughter, who both disguise themselves to escape the court life in favor of the country life in the Forest of Arden. Disguises and secrets get in the way of love and result in hilarious love triangles that only a ‘magical transformation’ can fix.
